Third accused in LUMS case sent on judicial remand

LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Tuesday sent the third accused nominated in the case of killing of a Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) student in a road accident for a judicial remand.The accused, Sheikh Bilal, was arrested on Monday night when he visited the police station to report for the investigation in another case against him, Investigation Officer Zahiruddin told Daily Times. He said Bilal was involved in a fraud case registered against him on April 20 and had gotten interim bail. Asad and Danish were already in jail.

On April 20, an over-speeding land cruiser swung out of control, hit the divider, and landed onto a car that was parked across the road. The parked car had three LUMS students – Waheeb Alam, Sohaib Tariq, and Abdul Aziz in it. Waheeb died on the spot while the others suffered serious injuries. Out of the three occupants of the land cruiser, Asad and Danish were immediately arrested, while Bilal managed to escape from the scene.
