Man Guilty Of Double Stab Killing Of Sisters

A sadistic sex killer who stabbed to death his on-off girlfriend and her sister in a “brutal and horrific” attack has been convicted of their murder.

15286885 Mohammed Ali was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court of murdering Yasmine and Sabrina Larbi-Cherif.

Their partially-clothed bodies were found at their blood-drenched flat last September.

Ali, 29, of Old Snow Hill, Birmingham, used three knives to stab Yasmine twice and inflict 35 separate knife wounds on her sister, leaving behind a scene of carnage.

Family and friends of Yasmine, 22, and Sabrina, 19, sobbed and hugged in the public gallery as the verdicts were returned.

Ali, who was not in court, will be sentenced at a later date.

The trial heard Ali had been in a relationship with Yasmine before killing her and Sabrina.

David Crigman QC, prosecuting, said Ali stabbed them in the lounge of their flat before dragging their bodies into a bedroom and partially stripping them.

Ali told jurors he stripped the sisters to give them “justice” for five months he spent on remand in prison after Yasmine accused him of rape in 2008.

The case collapsed when Yasmine withdrew the complaint.

The court heard he twice rearmed himself during the killings after breaking two of the knives he used.

Mr Crigman said: “He had left behind a scene of carnage. He had used violence of the most brutal and depraved kind and he had killed two young girls.”

Described by his own barrister as being a “hateful” individual, arrogant Ali acted normally with friends in the hours after the killings.

The court heard he was born in Baghdad and claimed asylum in the UK in 1999. He was granted indefinite leave to remain four years later.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Clews of West Midlands Police, who led the inquiry, described Ali as an evil “monster”.

“The girls were murdered in the most brutal and horrific way in their own home by someone that Yasmine had trusted,” she said.
