RIO DE JANEIRO – A BRAZILIAN man accused of illicitly filming more than 2,000 women in his workplace toilet with his mobile phone has been ordered by a judge to pay damages of US$14,700 (S$21,171).
Frederico Freire Lemos was charged with snapping the women in compromising positions with his phone’s video and still camera at the offices of the Brazil Union of Composers, where he was executive director.
A Rio district judge ordered Freire to pay 30,000 reais, or US$14,778, in the first of six cases brought against him by victims.
He was caught when one worker glimpsed a red light while on the toilet, and discovered that it was a hidden camera phone.
Freire was fired after demands from victims, some of whom had their images posted on pornographic websites. — AFP
