Thomas Beatie, the 35-year-old transgender male believed to be the world’s first pregnant man, has given birth to his second child, reports ABC News.
Beatie, who is legally male but chose to keep his female sex organs during chest reconstruction surgery and testosterone therapy, attracted worldwide headlines after giving birth to his first child Susan Juliette on June 29 2008.
In November 2008, Beatie announced his second pregnancy when he and his wife Nancy were interviewed by Barbara Waters on American television.
ABC News reports that Beatie gave birth to a healthy baby boy on June 9 and reveals sources close to the couple said it was a “natural childbirth”.

Although he was born Tracy Lagondino, Mr Beatie is legally male. He lives with his wife Nancy in Oregon. He underwent female-to-male gender reassignment surgery 10 years ago but kept his ovaries and womb. The couple, who operate a T-shirt printing business in Bend, Oregon, are legally married and Beatie is recognized under Oregon state law as a man.
The Beaties tried for children for several years but Nancy was unable to conceive having suffered severe endometriosis and undergone a hysterectomy. The couple decided Mr Beatie should try to carry a baby. Thomas stopped the hormone injections he was having and after several attempts managed to get pregnant.
