Waheed Murad’s 26th death anniversary being observed today (Monday)

The 26th death anniversary of Waheed Murad is being observed today (Monday, Nov. 23). Waheed Murad was born on October 2, 1938 in Karachi and news of his death on November 23, 1983 left many eyes brimming with tears.

Waheed Murad was the most famous and stylish romantic film hero in Pakistani films history. He belonged to a wealthy family at Sialkot. His father was a popular film distributor in Karachi. When Waheed Murad had done his M.A. English in Literature, he started his career as a producer.

He produced two films as producer. First one was “Insaan Badalta Hai”, which was released in 1961 that was golden jublee film, while the second one was “Jab se dekha hai tumhein”, which was released in 1963. This film was also golden jublee production.

Waheed Murad came as an actor in 1962. His first two films were ‘Aulad’ (1962) and ‘Daamen’ (1963). As co-actor, he introduced himself as hero in his production film “Heera aur Pathar” in 1964. But the Pakistani first Platinum Jubilee Urdu film ‘Arman’ gave him the breakthrough in 1966. This film was remarkable and its songs turned out to be very popular even these days as well. The one song, which got splendid popularity is ‘KO KO Rina.’

He was producer, writer of Arman. His pair with Zeba and Rani and Deeba got great success. Waheed Murad appeared as villain in only one film ‘Sheeshe ka Ghar’. His last film is ‘Hero’, which was released after his death in 1985. Well-dressed Waheed with beautiful eyes was a handsome and attractive personality. He had extremely popular hairstyle. Waheed Murad died of cardiac arrest in Karachi on November 23, 1983.

His death created such a vacuum in the Pakistani film industry as he acted in 123 feature films and earned 32 awards for his unmatchable performance, a private TV channel reported. He had written and produced several films. Radio Pakistan had aired many interviews during his life. Waheed’s important films included Mamta, Bahu Begum, Saaz Aur Awaz, Kaneez, Honhar, I Love You, Muhbbat Zindagi Hey, Hero and many others.
