The money was given through the Pitt-Jolie Foundation and spread out amongst many charities, with the big beneficiaries being the Global Health, with $2 million; Human Rights Watch, with $1 million; and Pitt’s Hurricane Katrina non-profit, the Make It Right Foundation, which took in $1 million.

Also recieving funds from the generous couple: the Armed Services YMCA of the U.S. Army, which took in a half million.  Meanwhile, nearly a million dollars went to projects in their adopted son Maddox’s home country of Cambodia. Also getting a taste? Pitt’s hometown of Springfield, Missouri which got $500,000 to help out the public school system.

All in all, it’s more than double what the couple gave through the organization in 2007. It’ll be interesting to see if they double up again with the charitable giving in 2009.
