Terrorism talk on agenda as Gilani leaves for Germany, UK

ISLAMABAD: Terrorism and economic cooperation top the agenda for talks as Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani leaves for a four-day trip to Germany and Britain.

Talking to the media at an Air Force base before his departure, Gilani said that he will discuss the insurgency in the border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan as well.

He will also seek to strengthen bilateral relations with Germany.

Gilani is scheduled to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel during which the contours of the new US Af-Pak policy of US President Barack Obama are expected to come under discussion.

Gilani has publicly voiced concerns about how a planned US troops surge in Afghanistan will push the militants into Pakistan.

From Germany, Gilani will proceed to London where a meeting with British Prime Minister Gordon brown is on the cards.

Responding to a statement by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown demanding Pakistan to do more in the war against terror as well as to track down Osama bin Ladin, Gilani said Pakistan has lost more lives and has done more in the war than anyone else.
