Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani was protesting against the American government for its new airport security measures imposed on air passengers, particularly those who are citizens of or flying from the specified 14 countries. Pakistan is one of them.

Haqqani lodged an official protest over the recent extra-security steps following the foiled bomb attack by a Nigerian man on a Detroit-bound american aircraft and has called for exclusion of Pakistan from the list.

During a meeting with the US Special Representative Richard Holbrooke in Washington, Haqqani termed the new regulations as “discriminatory and derogatory.”

According to an embassy spokesman, Ambassador Haqqani stressed that the inclusion of Pakistan in the list of “countries of interest” is unfortunate.

He stated that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was neither a Pakistani nor did he originate from Pakistan and this action has caused disappointment among the Pakistanis.  –DawnNews
