George Clooney’s ‘Batman and Robin’ Named Worst Film of All Time

The George Clooney flick Batman and Robin has been voted the worst film of all time by Empire magazine. The superhero sequel was critically panned on its release in 1997, and has had further embarrassment to its name after landing the unwanted title in a poll recently.

Despite box office success, the movie — which cost $143 million to make and also starred Chris O’Donnell and Uma Thurman — was criticized for its camp superhero suits and an almost farcical script. Empire magazine stated the comic book adventure had “become a byword for franchise-killing and bad movie-making.”

Clooney has previously admitted the film wasn’t very good, but had no regrets about starring in it because it was the big screen break which led to more starring roles. He said: “I don’t regret anything. With hindsight it’s easy to look back at Batman and Robin and go, ‘Woah! That was really s**t, and I was really bad in it.’ ”

Batman and Robin received almost three times as many votes as the next entry, which was John Travolta’s sci-fi movie Battlefield Earth. Mike Myers’ comedy The Love Guru, which won three Razzies in 2009 for Worst Picture, Worst Actor for Myers and Worst Screenplay, came third place, while spoof Epic Movie came fifth.

The top ten bad movies, according to Empire magazine:

1. Batman and Robin
2. Battlefield Earth
3. The Love Guru
4. Raise The Titanic
5. Epic Movie
6. Heaven’s Gate
7. Sex Lives Of The Potato Men
8. The Happening
9. Highlander II: The Quickening
10. The Room
